Charlie Taylor

 

Charlie has over 30 years consulting experience with McKinsey, where he retired as a Senior Partner in 2020. For the first decade with McKinsey, he lived and worked in Australia, New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, serving clients across the mining, financial, agriculture and telecoms sectors. For the second decade he led the Indonesian practice from Jakarta and the Asian Logistics/Infrastructure practice from Singapore. He returned in 2009 to Sydney and built and led the Public and Health Sector practice. He continues to advise the Australian McKinsey health and public sector practices as a senior advisor.

He trained as an economist and lawyer, receiving a BEc (First Class) and LLB at the University of Sydney. He was awarded a Commonwealth Trust Scholarship leading to a MPhil in Economics at Cambridge University. He worked with Citicorp Treasury prior to McKinsey, on the FX and options desk.

Since retiring as a senior partner, he has pursued interests in the agriculture, technology investing and policy, healthcare, education, political organization and public policy. He has been appointed to two publicly listed health sector boards: Healius and Cardiex. At Healius he has chaired the Audit committee and is a member of the People and Governance Committee. He was appointed as Chair of the NSW Innovation and Productivity Council in 2022, and the Council members included many of NSW Vice Chancellors as well as entrepreneurial leaders. He was also elected as the Honorary Federal Treasurer for the Liberal Party, is a member of the Federal Executive, and leads the Party engagement with business as Chair of the Australian Business Network. He is also a board director and investor in the MacLauglin River Pastoral Company which is a large family agriculture business based in the Snowy Mountains. He is an investor/advisor with VC firms Airtree and Antler, and on the advisory committee of For Purpose Investment Partners.
